Coastal Plain Region
Throughout history, the coastal regions of the globe have been major attractions. North Carolina's Coastal Region is no different. With its mild climate, this beautiful eastern region of the state entertains millions of guests all year. The main attraction of course is the Outer Banks where vacationers flock during all seasons of the year to enjoy the state's pristine beaches. The Outer Banks is a chain of barrier islands approximately 130 miles long. Remembering back to our history lessons you'll recall this is where the Wright Brothers took to flight back in 1903 in the town of Kitty Hawk. Mountain Region
Experience North Carolina's Mountain Region where two of America's most visited national parks reside, where thousands of acres of national and state forestland sliced by rushing waters dominate the landscape, and where visits can relive the luxurious past of America's industrial birth. If you like motorcycle riding this region of NC offers the best riding roads in the US! The Appalachian mountain chain runs through the western part of the state in this region. By far the Blue Ridge Parkway, is a major attraction people from all over the world visit along with the Great Smoky Mountains where you'll find the tallest eastern US mountain, i.e. Mount Mitchell peaking out at 6,684 feet. Located in the center of the state, this historically rich area once dominated by tobacco fields has been transformed into one of the East Coast's most dynamic new industrial mega centers. The greater Raleigh metropolitan including Research Triangle Park (RTP) is located in the middle of this region. Interstate 95 flows north and south through this region. It’s a simple 1.25 hour drive from the Raleigh – Triangle area to the beach in Wilmington and approximately 3 hours to the Outer Banks. This area is attracting many 1,000’s of new people every month from the north, south and western portions of the US. The name "Apex" was adopted because the community was the highest point on the Chatham Railroad between Richmond and Jacksonville, Florida. The current town motto—"Apex, the Peak of Good Living" not only captures the name's historical significance, but refers to the fact that in places along the town's main street (Salem Street), water which falls on one side of the street flows to the Neuse River, and on the other side it flows to the Cape Fear River. Families and individuals that settle down in Apex also enjoy an easy commute to RTP and Raleigh.  Apex Communities 2. Town of Cary
The Town of Cary has been recognized as one of the best towns to relocate to in the south. Money Magazine named Cary the 5th best place to live in the entire United States and the best place to live in the south. With its close proximity to Research Triangle Park (RTP) commutes to the high-tech employers is a breeze. Many worldwide corporations have relocated their operations and/or head quarters to Cary, NC because of the low cost of living and accessibility of the Raleigh-Durham international airport (RDU). Cary town planners have done an exceptional job of controlled growth. Cary borders Apex to its south, Raleigh to its east, Morrisville to its north and Lake Jordon to its west. 3. Town of Morrisville
This town is located near Cary and Research Triangle Park and is a very short drive to Raleigh. The population is small around 15,000. This is a prime location for new businesses coming to the area and for a primary residence because of the easy work commutes, excellent schools and infrastructure as well as the superb quality of life this small town has to offer.

4. City of Raleigh

Raleigh is home to the Wolfpack fans, the famous tailgating that takes place at their NCAA Atlantic coast conference football games. Equally popular are the Wolfpack basket ball games that take place at the RBC Center, the same venue used for the Carolina Hurricanes, the area’s NHL Ice Hockey team, GO CANES!

5. Holly Springs
This town prides itself on its small town feel that is evident in its family centric activies downtown. This is a hot community where properties move quickly. Forbes Magazine ranked this town 3rd in the best education category. It is also in the top 100 again for the best places to live in the US. This award recognition comes about because Holly Springs has leadership within its local government and businesses that are focused on the quality of life within the community. Holly Springs community leaders are focused on a strong and thriving local residential and business economy.

This town with its village look and feel is located in southwestern Wake County. This area is home to 17,000 within an eight square mile township. The growth rates in this area of Wake County are very high primarily because of the affordability of housing. Commutes into the Raleigh area and RTP are manageable; Raleigh is approximately 18 miles away. This is a very safe relaxing small town with loads of historical appeal offered by both of its historic downtown areas. One of the popular golf course communities is Crooked Creek where you’ll find affordable residential properties on the course and frequent super-ball tournaments. 7. Town of Wake Forest
This wonderful town is celebrating its centennial (100th birthday) throughout 2009. The southern charm of its downtown is a major draw for its 26,000 residents where they shop and dine among the 100+ local downtown businesses. This downtown Wake Forest area is an official historic district. The commutes to Raleigh and Research Triangle Park have been simplified with the addition of Rt. 540. This is a family oriented town loaded with new residential communities and many located on golf courses. One of those golf course communities is Heritage Wake Forest where in addition to golf in your backyard you'll also find custom built homes, swimming an tennis club, greenway parks, soccer complex, and neighborhood schools. A fun destination for the entire family in Wake Forest is the “Factory” where residence of Wake Forest and surrounding towns go to eat, shop and play. 8. Town of Chapel Hill
Chapel Hill has it all from a wonderful social atmosphere, universities, economic opportunities, medical facilities, parks, arts, museums, history, etc. As they say “There’s always something to do in Chapel Hill” and Franklin Street is the hearth of this fabulous community where many community events take place. This town is home to the University of North Carolina (UNC). In addition to the academics and research at UNC there is of course athletics – this town is passionate about their Carolina TAR HEELS! The draw to basketball and football games is over the top and enjoyed by everyone in the Triangle Area. The population of Chapel Hill is just over 50,000. Home prices can be a bit higher in this area of the Triangle however there are price points across the entire spectrum from townhomes to luxury homes. 9. City of Durham
Durham is located halfway between the Great Smoky Mountains and the Carolina beaches. There are an abundance of restaurants, businesses, universities, world class medical facilities, home to many annual festivals, home of the Durham Bulls Triple-A baseball, etc. The original industries were tobacco and textiles shifted to shopping and the high-tech industry. With the birth of the Research Triangle Park (RTP) nearly 60 years ago Durham began to take on a new look that has evolved into a global center for information technology, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and medicine. The City of Durham is known as the "City of Medicine," with healthcare as a major industry including more than 300 medical and health-related companies and medical practices. Duke University has grown into one of the most prestigious private universities in the world and its medical center ranks annually among the top in the nation. The university is the largest employer in Durham, providing jobs for more than 18,000 residents. By far the most visited attraction would be the Durham Bulls Athletic Park which is located in downtown Durham. The ballpark reflects many characteristics of old-time parks and the historic downtown Durham architecture.
